The UN Security Council Sanctions Committee has updated the information of four senior officials of the Taliban government. The updated list includes Mohammad Hassan Akhund, Abdul Ghani Baradar, Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, and Hedayatullah Badri.

The updated profiles now include aliases these officials used during their first period of rule. These sanctions involve asset freezes, travel bans, and arms embargoes imposed under UN Security Council resolutions. The updates rely on intelligence from member states.

The sanctions list is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure accuracy. Just last month, the committee updated the information of 22 other Taliban government officials, maintaining their sanctioned status. Interestingly, the supreme leader of the Taliban government remains absent from this specific sanctions list.
