Under a new bilateral agreement, the first group of migrants deported from the United States will arrive in the Democratic Republic of Congo this week. This operation is part of a broader strategy to accelerate the deportation of asylum seekers to third countries.

The initial group consists of dozens of citizens from Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Guatemala. This transfer coincides with Washington's diplomatic efforts to establish peace in eastern Congo while securing preferred access to the African nation's strategic mineral resources.

Upon arrival, the deported individuals will be temporarily housed in a hotel in the capital city of Kinshasa. While the Congolese national police will provide security, the long-term fate and legal status of these migrants remain uncertain after their temporary stay.
