The Ministry of Higher Education of the Taliban government announced that a high-ranking delegation led by Nida Mohammad Nadim has traveled to Kazan for the 17th "Russia and the Islamic World" international summit. The 14-member delegation includes several senior officials.
On the sidelines of this important summit, the first meeting of the joint economic and trade commission between the Taliban government and Russia is scheduled to take place at Moscow's request. Discussions will focus on economic cooperation, trade, and strengthening bilateral relations.
This trip occurs despite the fact that several senior Taliban government officials, including the Higher Education Minister himself, remain on the United Nations sanctions list. The summit is set to run from May 13 to May 15.
