The spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs announced that India has donated thirteen tons of vaccines and medical supplies to Afghanistan. This assistance aims to strengthen childhood immunization programs against tuberculosis.
The medical cargo was delivered in coordination with the World Health Organization and UNICEF to the Ministry of Public Health under the Taliban government. Tuberculosis remains a leading cause of mortality both globally and within Afghanistan.
According to health statistics, tens of thousands of individuals contract tuberculosis in Afghanistan each year. Limited access to healthcare services and inadequate diagnostic facilities are primary factors contributing to the ongoing spread of this disease.
