The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre reported that approximately seven million people in Afghanistan were displaced last year. This massive displacement is primarily driven by prolonged conflicts and devastating natural disasters across the country.

According to the report, about 4.4 million of these internally displaced persons fled their homes specifically due to violence and armed conflict. Furthermore, deadly earthquakes in eastern provinces and Mazar-e-Sharif caused thousands of additional new displacements throughout the year.

The organization warned that decades of war, frequent droughts, and a severe economic crisis have left minimal resources for rebuilding. Destroyed infrastructure and lack of funding continue to hinder the safe return of displaced families to their native regions.
