Jan Egeland, head of the Norwegian Refugee Council, stated that over four million Afghan refugees in Iran are now forgotten victims of the Iran-Israel conflict. He highlighted that many migrants have lost their jobs and face severe economic hardship.

Egeland noted that food prices in Iran have doubled over the past year. Consequently, many Afghan families are forced to skip meals, delay medical treatments, and borrow money just to survive. The NRC has provided emergency cash assistance but faces severe financial shortages.

The organization warned that its emergency relief funds will run out in a month without immediate international support. Meanwhile, Afghan refugees in Iran report increasing anxiety due to rising costs, unemployment, and the ongoing regional tensions.
