Tahir Andrabi, the spokesperson for Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, stated that intelligence evidence shows the deadly attack on a police checkpoint in Bannu was planned by militants based in Afghanistan. He added that a representative of the Taliban government was summoned and given a strongly worded demarche.
Pakistani officials reported that the attack occurred on May 9, resulting in the deaths of fifteen police officers. Islamabad has urged the Taliban government to take immediate and verifiable actions against terrorist groups and prevent the use of their soil against Pakistan.
Furthermore, Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif mentioned that negotiations with the Taliban government have been unfruitful. He claimed that the Afghan rulers refuse to provide written guarantees to stop supporting militants, offering only verbal promises instead.
