The Taliban government's Directorate of Information and Culture in Kandahar province has announced the forced closure of three local radio stations named Sanga, Ziwor, and Tahsin al-Quran.
Local authorities cited the lack of official operating licenses, unpaid government taxes, and the broadcasting of non-standard programs as the primary reasons for this sudden shutdown. Officials warned that these media outlets will not be allowed to resume broadcasting until all legal documentation is completed.
Meanwhile, the managers of these stations complained about overwhelmingly complex administrative processes and heavy financial taxes. The Afghanistan Journalists Center strongly condemned the recent closures, calling the move a clear sign of mounting pressure and severe restrictions against independent media operating within the country.
