The Norwegian Refugee Council has warned that Afghanistan has become one of the most underfunded humanitarian crises in the world. It now ranks alongside countries like Yemen and Mali in the global list of neglected crises.

According to the report, only a small fraction of the required budget to help millions of Afghans has been provided. Jan Egeland, the head of the council, stated that financial assistance has reached its lowest point, with only one in six required dollars funded.

The reduction in international aid following the Taliban government's takeover and the return of thousands of refugees have worsened the situation. Aid agencies warn that without an increase in support, millions will be deprived of basic services.
