The Afghan Journalists Center announced that Jawed Niazi, the director of Paygard News Agency, has been released after spending two full months in Taliban government custody. He successfully and safely reunited with his family members early on Tuesday morning.

Taliban government intelligence forces aggressively raided the media outlet's office two months ago, acting violently and unjustly confiscating the journalists' essential working equipment. While media advocates warmly welcomed his release, they strongly condemned his lengthy detention as a severe violation of human rights and press freedom.

Despite the Afghan journalist's long-awaited release, his news agency's office remains forcibly closed and is strictly prohibited from operating. Media support organizations are urgently demanding the immediate reopening of the news outlet and the safe return of all confiscated technical equipment.
