Alexander Zuev, a senior UN official, stated that Al Qaeda maintains its presence in Afghanistan despite a reduction in its direct operations. Speaking to TASS news agency, he highlighted that the group has a complicated relationship with the current de facto authorities in Kabul.
The UN official clarified that while they do not officially recognize the Taliban government, they acknowledge their practical control over the country. He also pointed out that ISKP and the Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan remain the most active terrorist groups in the region.
The Taliban government has repeatedly denied the presence of foreign terrorist groups within its borders. They maintain their pledge to prevent any organization from using Afghan soil to launch attacks against other nations.
