The International Organization for Migration reported that more than one million Afghan citizens returned from Pakistan to their home country over the past year. This massive influx has severely strained local communities and humanitarian service capacities across the nation.
Many returning families are forced to start their lives entirely from scratch, having lost their savings and businesses after decades of living in Pakistan. Children born and raised abroad are now facing immense challenges adapting to an unfamiliar environment and uncertain economic conditions.
Relief agencies emphasize that these returnees urgently require essential support, including shelter, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities. The IOM warned that addressing the needs of these vulnerable families will be increasingly difficult without sustained international financial assistance.
