Afghan migrants who have returned to the western province of Farah after being deported from Pakistan are struggling with severe economic challenges, unemployment, and a lack of access to healthcare. Many families report that they are entirely unable to afford basic daily living expenses and are surviving in dire conditions.
Several returned migrants stated that they lack the money to purchase basic food items or visit a hospital to treat their worsening medical conditions. Furthermore, they remain excluded from free clinical services, forcing many vulnerable individuals, including children, to endure hunger and untreated illnesses in dilapidated shelters.
According to international organizations, millions of Afghans have returned from Pakistan and Iran over the past five years. However, aid agencies consistently warn about a critical funding shortage, which prevents them from adequately addressing the essential needs of these returning families and providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities.
