Frankfurt customs officials announced the seizure and destruction of a shipment containing 62,400 counterfeit energy drink cans manufactured in Afghanistan. The cargo was stopped during a truck inspection on July 19.
Spokesperson Christine Strass said the shipment contained approximately 15,000 liters of energy drinks weighing 16.3 tons, with an estimated market value of nearly €100,000. The drinks were produced in Afghanistan and destined for the French market.
The cans imitated the colors, logos, and designs of well-known energy drink brands. After being notified, the brand owners confirmed the products were counterfeit and requested the entire shipment be destroyed.
