Zarqa Yaftali, founder of the Women and Children's Legal Research Foundation, has called for the immediate and unconditional release of six of her staff members detained by the Taliban. She stated that one month has passed since their arrest and they still have no access to a lawyer.
The Taliban raided the foundation's Kabul office on June 21, confiscating laptops and mobile phones. The detained individuals are Sultan Ali Rahimi, Ahmad Siam Hazim, Hamed Ahmad Siddiqui, Abdul Matin Hakimi, Abdul Qadir Hamidi, and Bismillah.
Yaftali has called on human rights organizations, media, diplomatic missions, and the United Nations to intensify efforts for the release of the six detainees. The Taliban have not commented on the reason for the arrests.
