A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck parts of Afghanistan early Wednesday morning. The quake occurred 33 kilometers from Farkhar district in Takhar province at a depth of 212.6 kilometers.
No reports of damage or casualties have been released so far. Afghanistan has a history of devastating earthquakes. Last year, a magnitude-6 quake shook Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, and neighboring areas.
Many mud and brick houses collapsed in that quake, killing dozens of families trapped under the rubble. The Taliban had said more than two thousand people died in the Kunar earthquake.
