The Joint List, an alliance of Arab-led political parties in Israel, has announced its intention to recommend Gadi Eisenkot, a prominent rival of Benjamin Netanyahu, to the president for the post of prime minister.

According to a report by The Times of Israel, the three constituent factions of the Joint List stated that this move is aimed at preventing Netanyahu and his government from returning to executive power.

The alliance declared that the official endorsement comes in direct response to broad public demands to bar the current leadership from maintaining control.

A delegation representing the Arab parties is scheduled to meet with Israeli President Isaac Herzog to officially present Eisenkot as their preferred candidate for the premiership.

This development occurs amid intensifying domestic political maneuvers within Israel, where parliamentary blocs are positioning their recommendations to establish a new governing coalition.

Eisenkot, a former chief of staff of the Israeli military, has emerged as a central figure among opposition groups seeking to unify political factions.
