The British media have reported that the Ministry of Home Affairs has refused to grant visas to a group of young people from the Afghan orchestra living in Portugal.Ahmad Sarmast, the director of this group, described the British government’s decision as “heartbreaking”.The Ministry of Interior has called the information provided about the members of this group ambiguous.According to the report of the Guardian newspaper, Sarmast said that his group consisting of 47 exiled musicians between the ages of 14 and 22 have been trying for months to participate in a show in London.He noted: “This group has been denied a visa to enter the UK to complete this extraordinary show called Breaking the Silence. “Since we left Afghanistan, we have performed all over the world, but we have never faced this limitation.”Sarmast stated that after the exile of these musicians from the country, they have performed freely in Switzerland, France, Italy and Germany among the musicians of other countries.One of the most recent concerts of this group was at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.​
