TAMPA, Fla. – On March 6, 2024, at approximately 7:14 p.m. (Sanaa Time), U.S. Central Command conducted self-defense strikes against two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen. The UAVs posed an imminent threat to merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships operating in the Red Sea.This action was taken to protect freedom of navigation and ensure the safety and security of U.S. Navy and commercial vessels in international waters.
