Afghanistan Women’s Unity and Solidarity Movement issued a statement on the occasion of March 8, International Women’s Day.In this statement, it is stated that the protesting women of Afghanistan have continued their struggle against the restrictions and discrimination imposed by this group in the past three years despite the suppression and torture of the Taliban.The members of this movement have emphasized that their struggle is against inequality, injustice, oppression, torture and deprivation of women’s Islamic and human rights, including the right to education, work and freedom.This statement is published while the Taliban have imposed extensive restrictions against women and girls after returning to power. These restrictions include banning women from working in government offices, banning girls from studying above the sixth grade, and restricting women’s freedom of movement.The Taliban’s restrictions have faced widespread negative reactions from the international community. The United Nations and other international organizations have repeatedly asked the Taliban to respect the rights and freedoms of women and girls.
