The Independent Coalition of Women’s Protest Movements in Afghanistan, in response to what it calls the exploitation of women’s struggles, has declared that it will not allow “opportunistic” individuals to use the addresses of women activists for their own political and economic purposes.
On Monday night, the coalition stated in a statement that many women activists have launched a global campaign to fight against “gender apartheid” in Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan.
“We, the victimized women of Afghanistan who have stood against bullets, lashes, oppression, and the Taliban’s eradication, along with Iranian women who are like the disappeared corps of the Sepah inside Iran, imprisoned, executed, and tortured, along with Pakistani women who are entangled in the apartheid traditions of their dictatorial regimes and even do not have the permission to raise their voices, are fighting for the lost human rights and freedoms in Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan,” the statement said.
The Independent Coalition of Women’s Protest Movements in Afghanistan emphasized that it will not allow any opportunistic individuals to use the addresses of women activists for the benefit of their short-term political or group interests. It stated, “Therefore, in response to the campaign against sexual apartheid, we, the women of Afghanistan, have initiated a campaign under the title of the Global Campaign Against Sexual Apartheid, led by the joint leadership of the protest movements of Afghan women, human rights organizations, and independent and recognized figures of Afghanistan.
“The coalition added that the global campaign against “gender apartheid” will continue until achieving “justice, equality, the rise of freedom, and the end of gender apartheid” among the citizens of Afghanistan.
It is worth mentioning that after the Taliban’s re-domination of Afghanistan, this group has violated the fundamental rights of citizens, especially women. Previously, women’s rights advocacy organizations had repeatedly demanded the recognition of “gender apartheid” by the international community due to the continued violation of human rights, especially women’s rights, by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
