The first round of the annual Kankor university entrance exam began in fifteen provinces of Afghanistan, while Afghan girls remained excluded for the fourth consecutive year. The National Examination Authority of the Taliban government announced that this process will continue until Saturday.
The initial phase covers provinces such as Herat, Badghis, Parwan, and several others. It is expected that around one hundred and twenty thousand students will participate in the exams this year, with over one hundred and eleven thousand being admitted to higher education institutions.
The exclusion of girls from university entrance exams has sparked widespread reactions. The United Nations has warned that the education ban has already affected over a million girls, and this number will sharply increase in the coming years if the situation persists.
