Gold mining contract in Takhar province with a Chinese company
The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has signed a contract worth 310 million dollars with a Chinese company to mine gold in Takhar province.
Humayun Afghan, the spokesman of the ministry, said in a statement that the ministry is trying to establish and inspect gold mines in different provinces, including Badakhshan, Takhar, Baghlan, Kunduz and Faryab. He stressed the commitment of the ministry to establish gold processing factories inside Afghanistan.
And during the conversation with Tolo News, he said that currently the only contract we have in Takhar province is with a Chinese company that has Afghan partners. This mine is located in Chah Ab district, Takhar province, and has an area of 12 square kilometers. The contract with the Chinese company is for five years and the mine is currently in the exploration phase. Phase extraction will be followed soon.
After taking power, the Taliban have taken steps to acquire mines in different provinces of Kishwar with foreign companies, including China.
Earlier, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum had announced the distribution of permits in the provinces of Badakhshan, Panjshir, Kabul, Nuristan, Kunar and Bakhsh of Laghman for the extraction of ruby, lapis lazuli and Biruj stones.
