Turkish Anadolu Agency photojournalist assaulted by US police while covering pro-Palestine protest in New York
Fatih Aktas, a photojournalist for the Turkish Anadolu Agency, was assaulted by US police while covering a pro-Palestine protest in the Brooklyn area of New York. Aktas, who was attempting to document the police’s violent intervention against protesters, fell to the ground after being forcefully pushed by a police officer.
The incident was clearly captured in a video recorded by another journalist. Aktas, commenting on the incident, said, “At that moment, I could have hit my head on the ground, which would have had severe consequences. I, too, became a target of police violence, just like the protesters.”This incident once again showcased the brutality of US police against journalists and protesters, raising questions about how law enforcement handles peaceful gatherings.
