John Kirby, the spokesman of the National Security Council of the White House, has announced that he has received Hamas’ response to the cease-fire plan in Gaza, which was proposed by US President Joe Biden. In a press conference on Tuesday, June 11, Kirby said that Washington is reviewing and evaluating this response.
He added: “We received the official message from Hamas about Biden’s peace plan, which was also approved by the UN Security Council resolution, through Egyptian and Qatari mediators, and we are reviewing and evaluating this response.”According to a Reuters report, Kirbi called the official response of Hamas helpful for the establishment of peace in Gaza.
The spokesman of the National Security Council of the White House did not provide more details on this matter.
On the other hand, Israel’s former chief negotiator Daniel Levy has said that the war in Gaza will continue, even if America says otherwise.
Referring to the provisions of the peace plan proposed by Biden, he noted: “The question that is raised here is what is the commitment of the United States as a mediator to its plan in all its stages, because what prevents progress in the peace talks is “It is whether you are looking for a permanent ceasefire or with a temporary ceasefire we will see the conflict flare up again and more killing and destruction.
“It should be mentioned that last night (Monday, June 10), the United Nations Security Council approved the resolution proposed by the United States regarding the ceasefire in Gaza with 14 votes in favor.
Previously, the Hamas movement welcomed this action of the Security Council and expressed its readiness to advance the principles of the approved resolution.
