Medina Mahboubi, one of the participants in the Doha side meeting, has called on the international community to continue efforts to engage with the Taliban group through all possible means. She said the issue of girls’ education and human rights should not become a tool to feed the political agendas of some groups.

In a note on the X social network on Wednesday, July 5th, Ms. Mahboubi wrote that she participated in the Doha side meeting and welcomed the steps taken to enhance dialogue and engagement with the Taliban. She said the international community’s sanctions on the Taliban do not help reduce the suffering of the Afghan people.

The United Nations confirmed that eight people representing Afghan women and civil society participated in the Doha side meeting. However, Afghan activists say most of these individuals are either unknown figures or hold positions close to the Taliban, and are misusing the name of women and civil society.
