Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s Foreign Minister, warned of the threats posed by cross-border terrorism at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Kazakhstan on Thursday, July 6th. He stated that if these threats are not confronted, the security and peace of the region and the world will be at risk.

The Indian Foreign Minister emphasized that SCO member countries should prioritize the fight against terrorism. According to him, terrorism in any form cannot be justified or overlooked, and the international community must isolate and expose countries that provide safe havens for terrorists.

Although Jaishankar did not name any specific country, Delhi has previously accused Pakistan of harboring terrorism and instrumentally using terror in its foreign policy. However, Pakistan considers itself a victim of terrorism, and since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, Islamabad has accused the Taliban regime of sheltering terrorists.
