The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has reported that Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, was killed in an attack on his residence in Tehran.
According to a statement by the IRGC Public Relations Office, Haniyeh’s residence in Tehran was targeted on the morning of Wednesday, Asad 10, resulting in the deaths of Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards. No further details about the incident have been released.
Haniyeh had arrived in Tehran the day before the incident to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s new president, Masoud Pezeshkian, and had met with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.
