Taliban Inks Five Trade Deals with Uzbekistan
The Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the signing of five trade agreements with Uzbekistan on 17th of August.
The agreements, aimed at enhancing trade relations, were signed in the presence of Abdul Ghani Baradar, Taliban’s economic deputy, and Abdullah Aripov, Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister. Aripov stated, “We are ready to cooperate with Afghanistan, and our President believes progress is impossible without engaging with the current government.”
Although Uzbekistan hasn’t officially recognized the Taliban, it has maintained trade relations over the past three years.
Last year, the Taliban also signed a trade and transit cooperation document with Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
