National Resistance Front Delegation to Visit Washington

The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has welcomed an invitation from the US House Foreign Affairs Committee. On Wednesday, September 5, the Front announced that it would soon send a delegation to Washington. Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front, is scheduled to have a virtual meeting with Michael McCaul, the chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The National Resistance Front’s statement reads: “The leadership of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan expresses gratitude for the invitation and sustained engagement of the United States Congress with the Front and the people of Afghanistan, and supports any dialogue that helps transition from the country’s current crisis.”

The Front hopes that these talks will establish and strengthen a new process in relations between Washington and the Front. This comes as the Taliban group still controls most of Afghanistan’s territory, and the international community has yet to recognize this group.

Analysts believe that this meeting could be a sign of a change in America’s approach to the situation in Afghanistan. However, it remains unclear whether these talks can have a tangible impact on Afghanistan’s political situation.
