In a shocking incident, the terrorist group ISIS has claimed responsibility for a deadly attack on residents of Daykundi province. The attack occurred on Thursday, September 12, in the border area between Daykundi and Ghor provinces, resulting in 14 deaths and 4 injuries.

Local sources reported to 8 AM newspaper that the attack took place around 1:00 PM at Pahlu Sang pass in Ghor province, near the border of Sang-e-Takht and Bandar districts of Daykundi. Four unknown gunmen stopped a vehicle carrying local residents and opened fire on them.

The victims, all men, were reportedly on their way to welcome pilgrims returning from Karbala. ISIS, through a statement on its Amaq news agency, claimed to have killed 15 Shiites and wounded 6 others.

This attack has once again raised concerns about the security of religious minorities, particularly Hazaras and Shiites in Afghanistan. The Taliban group, which controls the country, has not yet commented on this incident.

The attack comes at a time when the Taliban claim to have established nationwide security and deny the presence of ISIS in Afghanistan. However, repeated attacks on religious minorities indicate that serious security challenges persist in the country.

This incident highlights the ongoing vulnerability of minority communities in Afghanistan and raises questions about the effectiveness of current security measures.
