Afghan Migrant PoR Card Validity Extended Until July 9, 2025

The Federal Government of Pakistan informed the Supreme Court on Tuesday that the validity of Proof of Registration PoR cards for Afghan migrants has been extended until July 9, 2025. Approximately 1.3 million Afghans in Pakistan hold these identification cards.

According to the Pakistani newspaper Dawn, as the Supreme Court resumed hearings on petitions against the mass deportation of Afghan migrants from Pakistan on Tuesday, the Federal Government assured the Supreme Court that the validity of PoR cards has been extended until June 30, 2025.

Following Pakistan’s decision in October 2023 to deport Afghan migrants en masse, several petitions have been filed by a coalition of civil society activists, human rights advocates, and former senators.
