The Pakistani army announced on Friday, May 30, 2025, that four soldiers were killed in a clash with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to the statement released, the fighting began after TTP attacked a security post, resulting in the deaths of six militants as well.

The TTP has not yet responded to the Pakistani army’s claim. This clash comes after Pakistan’s Express Tribune newspaper had previously reported that TTP attacks had decreased following actions taken by the Afghan Taliban against some TTP members at Pakistan’s request.

Although the Afghan Taliban has not confirmed these claims, the security situation in some areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces has once again raised concerns in recent weeks.

Security experts believe that the complex relationship between the Afghan Taliban and TTP continues to pose a fundamental challenge to Pakistan’s border security.
