CBS News has reported that American officials have been informed of Israel’s complete readiness to launch military operations on Iranian soil.
This report comes as the US State Department has issued orders to evacuate non-essential staff from its embassy in Baghdad and authorized the departure of non-essential personnel from diplomatic facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait.
Donald Trump, the US President, confirmed on Wednesday during a press briefing that American citizens have been advised to leave the region because “it might become a dangerous area.” Trump also emphasized America’s opposition to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, Steve Witkoff, Trump’s Middle East envoy, still plans to meet with Iranian officials for the sixth round of talks regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
The increase in military movements and security warnings, coinciding with the review of Iran’s nuclear dossier at the IAEA Board of Governors, has heightened concerns about the Iran-US crisis entering a new phase of tension. The proposed resolution by three European countries along with the US is expected to be put to vote on Thursday, condemning the Islamic Republic for its non-transparent nuclear activities.
