The new United Nations report on the problems of women entrepreneurs in Afghanistan
The recent research conducted by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) shows that women entrepreneurs in Afghanistan face many obstacles and difficulties.
According to the report, UNDP research shows that despite the challenges and limitations, women-owned businesses and their management will act as the main pillars for economic stability in Afghanistan.
The latest research will examine the activities of women in the trade sector during the last three years.
According to this research, discrimination and work restrictions also cause problems for Afghan women entrepreneurs, and almost three-quarters of the studied women face restrictions on traveling to local markets without a male companion.
According to this research, only five percent of these female entrepreneurs in Afghanistan were able to find a small loan through banks or financial institutions.
According to UNDP, this institution along with its partners has supported 75 thousand small businesses in Afghanistan and created job opportunities for 900 thousand people.
After the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, this group has banned women from working in the government and private sector, as well as cooperation with international institutions, which has led to many problems for women and girls in Afghanistan.
