Hundreds of Herat residents rushed to Islam Qala border to help Afghan migrants deported from Iran.
On Friday, July 4, 2025, these volunteers prepared around 300 vehicles for free transportation of returnees and provided water and food to assist their fellow citizens.
Alongside this public initiative, the Taliban group has announced that in just one day, 38,000 Afghan migrants were deported from Iran.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has also reported that more than 43,000 migrants were expelled from Iran on Tuesday, and this process has increased significantly following Israel’s attack on Iran.
Returnees at the Islam Qala camp face serious problems including lack of shelter, water, food, and transportation.
Aid organizations have emphasized that most migrants have been deported empty-handed, and financial assistance is needed to address their situation.
