Residents of Herat told Zarin TV Network on Saturday, August 23, 2025, that they were horrified by the brutal killing of a man by Taliban members and the public display of his bloodied body in the “Darb-e-Kandahar” area.
Released videos show Taliban hanging a bloody corpse from the back of a Ranger vehicle and parading it through the city.
Images and videos that have been released show horrific scenes of Taliban members’ treatment of the man’s body. One video shows a Taliban member kicking the face of the corpse.
Firoz, a Herat resident, says news of the man’s brutal murder and the suspension of his body has “shocked” everyone in the community.
Some local sources say the man was accused of killing a Taliban police chief during a verbal dispute.
The Taliban have not yet provided any official response or explanation regarding this incident.
In the released videos, voices can be heard accusing the man of killing a police chief and membership in “resistance” groups.
