Sunita Ahuja, wife of Bollywood star Govinda, recently revealed that she married the superstar because he resembled veteran actor Dharmendra, whom she described as her “teenage crush.
” In an interview with Eat Travel Repeat, Sunita candidly admitted, “I married Govinda only because he resembles Dharam ji. Both are Punjabi.”
Sunita further recalled how Govinda once played a role inspired by Dharmendra in the film “Sandwich,” where his acting reminded her of the veteran star.
She even confessed to having told Dharmendra himself: “I once told Dharam ji that I married him because he somewhat looked like you.”
These revelations come amid reports that Sunita filed for divorce from Govinda in December 2024 under Section 13(1)(i), (ia), and (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion as grounds. While Govinda has not yet responded to these reports, his manager told media outlets that no divorce is happening and the couple is focusing on their children.
The pair has been married since 1987 and shares two children, Tina and Yashvardhan.
