xAI, the artificial intelligence company owned by Elon Musk, has filed a lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI in a Texas federal court.
The company accuses Apple and OpenAI of conspiring to prevent competition in the artificial intelligence field and monopolizing the AI application market.
The lawsuit claims that “the exclusive agreement between Apple and OpenAI has turned ChatGPT into the only generative AI chatbot integrated into iPhone.
” Musk’s company argues that if Apple and OpenAI didn’t have an exclusive agreement, “there would be no reason to refrain from highlighting X and Grok apps in the App Store.”
In response to this lawsuit, OpenAI issued a statement saying that this action “is consistent with Mr. Musk’s pattern of continuous harassment.
” This comes after Musk had threatened in early August to sue Apple, claiming that the company’s approach “has made it impossible for any AI company other than OpenAI to reach the top ranking in the App Store.”
