A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan, with residents near the epicenter feeling strong tremors.
According to initial reports, the earthquake occurred in Kunar province and neighboring areas, resulting in at least six deaths and 15 injuries.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located 25 kilometers from Asadabad city, the center of Kunar province, at a depth of 35 kilometers.
Access to some rural roads has been disrupted due to rockfalls and landslides, which could complicate assessment and relief operations.
A Taliban security command spokesperson emphasized that the earthquake caused no casualties in Kabul city and conditions remain normal.
Afghans in some areas have moved to open spaces as a precaution against potential aftershocks.
