The Taliban’s Statistics and Information Administration announced it has dispatched a qualified delegation to Iran for verifying the identity of Afghan migrants.
The administration stated that the deployed team will examine better ways to regulate the identity verification process for migrants in Iran.
Mohammad Nabi Nosrat, deputy of civil registration at this administration, heads the five-member delegation.
This team will assess the needs of working teams in Iran and address identity problems of Afghan migrants in the country Mohammad Nabi Nosrat called facilitating the identity verification process for migrants in Iran one of the main objectives of this trip.
He assured that comprehensive efforts will be made to solve migrants’ identity problems.
This action comes as many migrants face identity uncertainty amid intensified deportations of Afghans from Iran.
Many second and third-generation Afghan migrants born in Iran have neither Afghan nor Iranian identity documents.
Previously, some migrants said the Taliban doesn’t recognize them as Afghans while Iran doesn’t recognize them as Iranians.
