Sources tell Amu that dozens of trucks carrying fruits and vegetables from Afghanistan are stranded at the Torkham crossing, and Pakistani officials are deliberately delaying the assessment of these vehicles.

Drivers say that previously Afghan commercial vehicles at the Torkham border were scanned between five to twelve minutes, but now the passage of about ten trucks daily takes 45 minutes to one hour.

Drivers have added that each vehicle is delayed four days to a week at Torkham, where their fresh fruits and vegetables spoil due to hot weather, and merchants sell them at auction in Peshawar and Islamabad markets.

Sources emphasize that selling these goods at auction cannot even cover the cost of merchants’ vegetable boxes.

Several complaints have been made to Taliban officials at Torkham, but the Taliban do not talk to them to solve their problems, which is why each vehicle loses tens of thousands of Afghanis.

The Taliban group has not commented on this matter so far.
