South Korean lawmakers, citing the country’s intelligence agency, announced that Kim Jong Un, North Korea’s leader, has solidified his daughter Kim Ju Ae’s position as a potential successor by bringing her on his recent trip to China.
The North Korean leader recently traveled to Beijing to participate in China’s military parade.
These lawmakers say North Korean officials were observed cleaning up traces to protect biological information about Kim Jong Un and his daughter during the China trip.
Analysts believe Kim Ju Ae’s presence on this foreign trip marks the first major step in preparing her to become North Korea’s first female leader.
According to them, the North Korean leader is expanding relations with China following the trip, and there is a higher likelihood that China will support North Korea through informal trade.
South Korea’s intelligence agency announced in 2024 that Kim Ju Ae was being prepared for leadership.
