The Afghan Free Media Support Organization (Ney in Exile) reports that the Taliban group has recently cut fiber optic internet services in more than ten provinces of the country.
This action was ordered by Mulla Hibatullah Akhundzada, Taliban leader, to “prevent vice”.
Ney in Exile believes this measure aims to cover up Taliban’s crimes against humanity and further restrict girls’ education.
The organization emphasizes that the Taliban wants to prevent reporting on Afghanistan’s situation to the world and make online education for girls impossible.
Experts have warned that these restrictions will have severe consequences on the economy, education, and technology development.
Ney in Exile states this action turns Afghanistan into a second North Korea, with the difference that Afghanistan has more severe restrictions on women.
