Local sources from Badakhshan report that intense fighting has erupted between two Taliban commanders in Warduj district of the province.

The clash occurred between Baba Jan, Taliban police commander in Zebak, and Zahir, Taliban battalion commander in Ishkashim, with both sides having over 400 fighters.


According to reports, the fighting that began Wednesday night has resulted in one death and 15 wounded.

The root of this tension is said to be a dispute over pastureland between the villages of Ghaniw and Akhshira.

Sources indicate that Taliban reinforcements have also been sent from Faizabad to the area.


This incident highlights internal tensions within Taliban ranks that could negatively impact regional stability.

Internal conflicts between different Taliban commanders have raised concerns about the group’s effective control over territories under its dominance.
