Researchers have developed a revolutionary self-sustaining solar system that harvests water from air and produces green hydrogen The system uses hydrophilic ordered porous carbon co-doped with nitrogen and oxygen for efficient water extraction.

The AWH-PEMWE system operates under ultra-low humidity conditions down to 20% RH and achieved peak green hydrogen production of 204 mL/h during outdoor midday tests The atmospheric water harvester recorded a breakthrough capacity of 0.49 L/kg/h at 40% relative humidity.

This technology operates without carrier gases or external energy accessories, enabling a completely solar-driven process with zero carbon emissions throughout the hydrogen production cycle This advancement offers a crucial solution for arid regions facing water scarcity challenges.
