Rahmatullah Nabil, former head of NSD, responded to the complete internet and telecommunications shutdown across Afghanistan, stating this is not merely a technical decision but a method to maintain power.
The Taliban group has cut fiber optic internet services nationwide since Monday, September 29th.
Mr. Nabil wrote on his X page on Tuesday, September 30th, that “silencing people is one of the Taliban’s persistent methods for consolidating power.
” He added that “wherever religion and ideology become tools of domination and governance, suppressing freedoms and silencing people becomes a permanent and endless rule for consolidating power.”
This blackout has caused flight cancellations from Kabul airport, halted banking services, and shut down security cameras.
A diplomatic official announced that the Taliban stated the internet shutdown will continue until further notice.
