Farouk Azam, advisor to the Taliban’s Ministry of Water and Energy who was arrested by Mulla Hibatullah for emphasizing the importance of women’s education, was released a few days ago.
He once again posted a message on his Facebook page, calling women’s education important for society’s development.
Contrary to beliefs that only emphasize medical education for women, Azam says women’s education is needed in every sector of society: agriculture, economics, medicine, religious education, arts, and sports.
He explained the harmful effects of the Taliban group’s ban on women’s education and work.
In this half-hour speech, Azam insisted that women should be allowed to study in all sectors, sick women should be allowed to exercise, and separate markets should be created to prevent mixing in marketplaces.
