Andrey Rudenko, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, announced that decision-making regarding Bagram airbase should be conducted by Kabul.

He told TASS news agency that Moscow has no information about Afghans’ readiness to accept Americans again.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized that this decision must be made by Afghan authorities who have complete sovereignty over their territory.
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, also said that the Taliban group will not surrender to American threats regarding handing over Bagram airbase. She emphasized that the Afghan people, who gained their freedom in battle against NATO forces, will not abandon their national sovereignty in the face of any ultimatum.

These statements come while Donald Trump, US President, has threatened that bad things will happen if Afghan authorities refuse to hand over Bagram base.

The Taliban group’s spokesperson had previously declared that Afghans will never allow their land to be handed over to anyone under any circumstances.
