Russia’s special presidential envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, welcomed discussions between the United States and the Taliban regarding reopening the US embassy in Kabul .

Speaking on the sidelines of the Moscow Format meeting, Kabulov stated that Russia has no plans to deploy military forces in Afghanistan.


Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi firmly told Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that the Taliban will not allow foreign military bases in Afghanistan, including Bagram airbase.

A Taliban spokesperson previously confirmed that the group has held discussions with the United States about reopening embassies in both countries.
US officials have not yet formally commented on these embassy discussions. Previously, American officials have visited Kabul multiple times to negotiate the release of American citizens detained by the Taliban, engaging in direct talks with Taliban authorities.
